thank you cleveland and chicago gigs...

thank you cleveland and chicago gigs...

By vic

because we've come to the midwest so much over the years i forget sometimes how good these gigs are to play...cleveland and chicago both have been such good cities to us... and the past two days, playing them back to back has made it really obvious in my mind that i should thank the folks who come to the gigs for being such good people to play for...i've been completely energized by these gigs and in my state of elation i just want to write it here...because there just isn't time enough after the gigs to tell enough people face to face how much i enjoy these shows...there it is...i say it because i mean it...and i hope it doesn't sound too cornball...and i don't mean to diminish any other of the places we go...but cleveland and chicago both are really special places for me because of these gigs we've played over the years...thanks,vic

and the night wore on

the beat kitchen was even thicker than the bottom lounge and grog house combined, back in the day... sure makes you grin a little inside. now they just gotta start serving Ten Pin Porter, and we're all set.

the detroit kids (what's left of em) could always go to the blind pig shows, since annarbor's a touch nicer and easy to get to...

say, no chance of a solo leg or any Nods songs popping up in the future? i know, i know, i gotta sweet talk the new guys into learning them first, huh....

thanks,
Heather

cleveland show

that was such an awesome show, im still telling people about it and its been a month since! you guys havent lost a step since i first saw you in '99 and i hope you keep on bringing it to cleveland for many years to come!!!

8 years later and about 30 shows

I want to thank you Vic. Thank you for recognizing how much Chicago loves you. I can't begin to tell you how much your music puts me in all the right places. Mentally and physically. With so much terrible music being played on the mainstream, it is hard to find a good home for good ol' SKA music to be played anymore. But The Slackers and Deal's Gone Bad will always remind me that there is still a place for great music. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and the dancing soles of my feet..keep it up.

Detroit misses ska!

Sounds like you guys got close! Good to see ska bands within a day's drive...Any chance you're coming to Tha D any time soon? The scene here just completely evaporated, man...we're jonesin'!

beat kitchen.

Nice to hear your reception in Chicago was a good one, i think we all definitely enjoyed the show!! Hopefully the current schedule of a show every year will continue... Everytime i see you guys it's an even better show! (but seriously. f' ((are we too P.C to use 'fuck' on here?)) cleveland, play chicago for two nights next time!!)

Beat Kitchen

I was very excited for the show in Chicago. I'm a long time Slackers fans and try to catch you everytime you're in Chicago. Unfortunately I have a complaint about Sunday's show. You sounded awesome, but I think the Beat Kitchen oversold the show. There was no room to move, and in the end, I left after only a few songs. I'll definitely catch you the next time you're in town, but I hope that it will be at a different venue. That was my first and last time to go to the Beat Kitchen. I'm very disappointed that I couldn't enjoy it, and I hope you make it back to Chicago soon!

AMAZING SHOW AT THE BEAT KITCHEN

The show at the beat kitchen was amazing...there was not one moment when I was not dancing. The only regret was having it be so crowded that there was no room to skank. I felt like a dead man the next morning but I felt content knowing I had so much fun the night before. Thank you guys for playin one hell of a show...the energy was amazing. Come back to chicago or even better Evanston. I also have friends in Cleveland who told me about the 3 encores. Thanks again for an amazing Slacker quality show.

chicago - pine-

the show in chicago was off the hook- Thanks for acknowledging the mid-wests continued enthusiasm. Has Glenn Pines performance become a bit more vociferous?- (clament/demanding attention; pressing.)just an observation- Maybe I dont appreciate him as much because Im not a girl who thinks he's hot stuff.it was a bit distracting for me. The album however is sweet! Sorry to offend those Pine fans.
Peace,

Paul

GLEN

have to agree.. Glen Kicks ass!! but sometimes i think hes in a hula hoop contest, or hes testing to see how far his dick will stick into the crowd.. Which made a couple chics in Chicago VERY HAPPY to notice this. Calm down there buddy. Great Show in Chicago!!!! Packed the HOUSE yet Again!! i think this was my 5th show.. as always; My Favorite Band EVER!

Glen

Awww leave the guy alone. I met him once in RI and he seemed like a really sweet, down to earth guy, not the pretentious ass you make him sound.

Glen

Yeah man, Glen is a really cool guy, and he really appreciates it when fans talk to him. He's also got alot of stage presence to fill now that Q Maxx left the band, which I think he does really well.

Glen

I like when Glen shakes his hips. Now if only he'd take his clothes off...

Cleveland gig.

I moved out to Ohio four years ago after living in the NY area and Saturday night's Grog Shop show was one of the most exciting Slackers gigs I've ever seen. Thanks guys.

-sad-

it sounds like the shows were awesome. i felt horrible that i wasn't able to make it out to chicago from st. louis... the whole being-too-young-to-drive situation kinda put a damper on things. :(

thinking about coming to st. louis any time soon? :D
