Reviews are beginning to pile up for the new Christopher Nolan film, Inception, which debuted Friday, July 16. Some of the reviews are glowing. Nolan's work, especially with the Batman franchise, has thus far been excellent. Also, Leonardo DiCaprio is a good actor, and that means some automatically good reviews will happen. There were a few critics who decided not to pull any punches. Maybe the film didn't live up to expectations.
The inception of Inception is good reviews
The Inception reviews on Rotten Tomatoes are mostly positive. It has a score within the 80s range, which is good. Roger Ebert gave it four stars, praising cast and crew. He said the film was "wholly original, cut from new cloth" which even he acknowledges is a rare thing these days. If it is as good as most critics, and also the esteemed Mr. Ebert, say it should make money now flood the box office, and the award nominations pour from the sky.
Not for everybody though
Nothing really pleases every person. There some Inception reviews are far removed from the accolades. Kurt Loder of MTV asked "are they handing out joints at the box office for 'Inception'? That would make the movie considerably more fun." The negative reviews for the film (including the critic from my home town paper who shall go nameless and who only gives four stars to Disney movies) all lament the film being too hard to keep up with, though well acted and visually impressive.
Survey says
The Inception reviews are mostly good. There also appears to be some speculation concerning the Inception ending, and there won't be a spoiler here. If you really, really, need Tom Cruise to defeat the forces of evil each and every time and get the girl so you do not have to really think about the movie, this is not a film for you.
